Old Cannon Garage opening Aug. 8

Aug 5, 2022

Updated 8/5/2022.

Old Cannon Garage is scheduled to open at 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8.

The new, 1,100-space garage will open to faculty and staff only and provide 24/7 access to A and BG6 permit holders. The first floor of the garage houses six electric vehicle charging stations. In addition, the garage offers 17 covered spaces for motorcycles and 24 ADA spaces.

BG6 permit holders should begin parking in Old Cannon Garage on Monday, Aug. 8; peak-hour access to Wexner Medical Center Garage will no longer be available at that time. Permit holders with off-peak* garage access may access the garage during off-peak hours.

In August 2019, the university board of trustees approved the construction of the $33.3 million parking garage. Construction work began Jan. 25, 2021, on the previous Dodd parking lot to prepare for the new facility.

CampusParc and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center are committed to improving parking access for faculty, staff, patients and visitors — both in the short- and long-term. Located at the southeast corner of Old Cannon Drive and Medical Center Drive, Old Cannon Garage is within walking distance of Wexner Medical Center. Transportation options between West Campus parking and the medical center remain in place.

Old Cannon Garage is a permit-only garage and is not open to visitors; patients and visitors are encouraged to park in the more proximate Wexner Medical Center Garage, a 1,887-space garage that opened in December 2020.

*Peak hours are 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Off-peak hours are 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. weekdays and all day weekends.
