As part of an ongoing initiative to improve safety and traffic flow within campus parking facilities, CampusParc has introduced Compact Car Only spaces in select garages across campus.
These updates were made in partnership with Ohio State’s Transportation & Traffic Management (TTM) and were informed by feedback from the university community. The goal is to improve visibility for both drivers and pedestrians, reduce blind spots, and enhance circulation in high-traffic or tight-turn areas.
What You’ll Notice
- New “Compact Car Only” signage identifying designated stalls
- A painted “COMPACT” stencil at the back of each space, showing the maximum compact car length
- Vehicles that extend beyond this line or into the drive lane may be cited
Important Reminders
- Only compact-size vehicles should park in these spaces.
- Compact cars typically have a combined passenger and cargo length up to 16 feet per EPA guidelines.
- Examples include the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Volkswagen Golf, and Toyota Prius.
- If your vehicle extends past the rear line, please use a standard-sized stall instead.
- Oversized vehicles parked in compact stalls can obstruct visibility and traffic flow.
The garages where the compact spaces are installed include:
- Gateway Garage
- Union South Garage
- 9th Avenue East Garage
- Tuttle Garage
- 12th Avenue Garage
- Neil Avenue Garage
We appreciate your cooperation in supporting these updates, which aim to create a safer and more efficient parking experience for all Buckeyes.
