Events to Cause Major Parking Impacts Through 8/19

Multiple university and non-university events will take place between Saturday, Aug. 10, and Monday, Aug. 19. Major parking and traffic impacts are expected before, during, and after the following dates and events:

  • The Ohio State University Marching Band Tryouts (Aug. 10-12)
  • COTA Bus Roadeo (Aug. 10)
  • Early Arrival Move-In (Aug. 15)
  • Student Move-In (Aug. 17)
  • Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival (Aug. 17-18)
  • Student Involvement Fair (Aug. 18)
  • Buck-i-Frenzy (Aug. 19)

Please plan ahead and expect parking closures, minimal available parking, and/or traffic delays on these dates, depending on the event. For alternate parking options, please consult the campus parking map.

Click each date below for a list of its parking impacts, and, if applicable, more information. Please note: Parking facilities will be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the date(s) below, unless otherwise noted. However, some facilities will be closed on multiple dates.

Gray Lots 3-4 Early Arrival Move-In

Early Arrival Move-In will occur from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., resulting in heavy traffic, roadway restrictions, and increased parking demand. Please anticipate minimal parking availability on Academic Campus and near the Schottenstein Center.

The following lots will be reserved for event use and will be unavailable to CampusParc permit holders beginning at 12:01 a.m.:

  • Buckeye Lots 1-3
  • Gray Lots 3-7
  • Lawrence Tower Lot
  • North French Field House Lot
  • St. John Arena Lot
  • South French Field House Lot
  • West Stadium Lot (south half of the lot only)
  • Chiller Lot
  • Lot Q
  • Lot R
  • William Hall Complex Lots

Garage Impacts

While all garages will remain open during the event (pending space availability), please anticipate increased demand and delays at or near garages within close proximity to residence halls. These garages may close to permit holders after 8 a.m. to allow access for Early Arrival Move-In guests only.

Lincoln and Morrill Tower

The parking spaces below Lincoln and Morrill Towers will be designated loading zones and restricted to students moving in for the semester. Temporary ADA accessible parking will be set up in the Mid-Tower Lot.

12th Avenue

All parking on 12th Avenue between College Road and Neil Avenue will be used for the unloading of vehicles as students arrive on campus. Temporary ADA accessible parking spaces will be set up in the Kuhn House Loop on 12th Avenue.

Traffic Information

Roadway restrictions may affect accessibility to some parking facilities. For more information on traffic and CABS impacts, please consult Transportation and Traffic Management.

Please note: The parking system will remain in normal operation throughout the event. Permit holders may park only in areas in which their permit is valid. Alternate parking for CX permit holders, for example, is available in Central Campus C spaces (in accordance with break rules) and on West Campus.

Student Move-In will occur from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., resulting in heavy traffic, roadway restrictions, and increased parking demand. Please anticipate minimal parking availability on Academic Campus and near the Covelli Center.

The following lots will be reserved for event use and will be unavailable to CampusParc permit holders beginning at 12:01 a.m.:

Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival

The Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival will take place Aug. 17-18 at Chemical Abstracts Service. Please plan ahead and expect heavier than normal vehicular and pedestrian traffic and less available parking in the area.

Surface lots in the vicinity of the event may require payment upon entry on Sunday, Aug. 18, only. Annual permit holders may park in these lots at no cost with the presentation of a valid access keycard. Permit holders unable to present a valid keycard will be required to pay the non-refundable event parking fee upon entry. Customers are encouraged to have their access keycard readily available year-round.
